So, finding “real” milk in Singapore is proving to be difficult.
Now, don’t get me wrong, there is plenty of milk here. But, that seems to be part of the problem. There are so many different people here from different countries. I’m sure that what I consider “real” milk someone else will consider foul.
Because of that fact, the local grocery store stocks a varietey of different kinds. My first trip to the store eight months ago proved to be the worst. I got a hi cal (calcium not calorie) lo fat milk. It turns out it was banana flavored. Totally gross.
My next few experiences were with “regular” milk. But they all taste funny. They seem to have a sweetness about them. Weird, but not gross.
I did manage to find a variety that I like. Unfortunately, I can’t recall which brand it was. Today, I discovered a fourth variety. I’m not even sure how to describe it. It looks like milk. It tastes mostly like milk. But, it expires in a year and doesn’t require refrigeration when you store it. A local friend refers to it as a step between powdered milk and regular milk.
I’ll keep you guys posted when I find a brand I like again.
